Bob was very involved with the FFI formerly FFF and editor of the Northwest Council newsletter and later Washington State Council when the Northwest Council was broken up in the 1990’s as well as the editor of the FFF’s Fly of the Month. Bob was a featured fly tier at many of the National FFF Conclaves. In 1989 Bob was Fly Fisherman of the Year awarded by the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club and in 2010 Bob received the Washington Fly Tying Hall of Fame Award and in 2013 he received the Washington State Council Fly Fisher of the Year (formerly Federator of the Year) Award. 2004, Bob received the Distinguished Service Award from the Northwest Council of Fly Fishers International. At the 2013 International Fly Fishers International Conclave, Bob was presented the prestigious Dick Nelson Fly Tying Teaching Award. Bob was a strong advocate of education and teaching. Bob was truly a gentleman and an ambassador for all aspects of fly fishing.
