Beginning Fly Casting
Ryan Smith instructor
9 to 11 a.m.
For those new to the sport or with limited casting experience consider taking Ryan Smith’s Beginning Fly Casting Class at either 9 am or 1 pm. Both classes will cover the basics beginning with the pickup and lay down and the fundamental overhead cast. From there the focus will shift to setting a target on either streams or lakes and the techniques to make a confident cast to that target. Ryan will rely on brief demonstrations then shift to individual help for each student to identify and overcome problems. And if you don’t have a fly rod, don’t worry. We’ve got a loaner for you to use.

Bring your own rod if you have one. If not, don’t worry we have one to loan you.

Advanced Fly Casting
Tom Cammarata instructor
9 to 11 a.m.

This class is for experienced casters who have command of the basics and an ability to double-haul a fly line to extend their cast. The class will focus on:

*   Distance casting and enhancing your basic double-haul to achieve more length and accuracy.
*   Line control methods
*   Curved casts and other methods to present a fly around obstacles on the water.
*   Slack line casts to present a drag free presentation on the water.
*   Casting in the wind.

This class will combine instruction, demonstrations and one-on-one skill development to move your casting to the next level.

Women’s Intermediate Fly Casting
Molly Semenik instructor
1 to 3 p.m.
For those of you who have been fly fishing for a while and want to brush up on your basic fly-casting mechanics, this class is for you.   We will advance your skills by focusing on:

*   Roll Cast
*   Overhead Cast
*   Accuracy

Molly will lead the class and be joined by assistant Marion Hiller and Liz Lair to provide excellent one-on-one instruction for every participant.
Molly Semenik was a fly fishing guide in Montana for 14 years. She moved to Birch Bay Washington and started Tie The Knot Fly Fishing back in 2001.  Currently, Molly offers fly fishing instruction (single-hand and two-hand) both in person and virtually. Molly is an FFI Master Casting Insturctor for both single handed and two handed fly casting and  s an emeritus member of the FFI casting board of governors.  In 2015 Molly authored “25 Best Off the Beaten Path Montana Fly Fishing Streams.
