Leader’s Line December 2017

Looking forward to 2018———-

Karen Royer has been a featured tier at  the Washington Council  Fly Fishing Fair in Ellensburg.

Here it is December a time for looking back and forward. Looking forward I realize that I am in the final 6 months as Council President.  Some days it seems hard to believe that I have been in this job for almost 12 years.   It has been a fantastic ride with a lot of changes, the biggest being the name changes from Federation of Fly Fishers to International Federation of Fly Fishers to Fly Fishers International.  I am very pleased at the direction that is now being taking with FFI. I think that the FFI will be in a stronger position in the fly fishing world into the future.  I also believe that the Washington State Council is growing.

Looking forward, the final six months of my term as Council President will be busy.  In the immediate future will be participating in both The Fly Fishing Show in Lynnwood in February and the Washington Sportsman’s Show in Puyallup in January.  If you visit either show, please stop by the booth and say hi.  In addition, the Council Board is very busy in preparing for the Washington Fly Fishing Fair in Ellensburg in May.  This year’s show will again be Friday and Saturday May 4th and 5th at Kittitas Valley Event Center (Fairgrounds) in Ellensburg.  As things get finalized they will be posted on our webpage, wscffi.org.  Please visit the website often for updates.

In addition to looking forward, I can’t help but look back over the time I have spent as Council President.  The one thing that comes to mind, as I do are the people that I have worked with over that time.  As you can imagine, may folks have helped with the Council during that time, some as Board members and some as volunteers.  Don’t worry I am not going to try and name everyone here, one because the list would be too long and second I would forget someone.  A number of folks who have volunteered are no longer with us and they are missed but not forgotten.  I THANK everyone of them for making my time as Council President so easy.

I hope to see everyone this year at the Fair in Ellensburg!
